Change APN Settings on your iPhone

There is not any way in which you can easily set your APN on your iPhone from the iPhone settings.
Even i don't know why the Apple is not making it easy for everyone around the globe, but ye there is a way which is another good thing, and it is very easy for even a newbie to understand and follow it the same.

How to set iPhone APN in One Step. Open your Safari Browser with your iPhone, go to http://help.benm.at, and now you have to the very bottom and click on Tethering.
If by any chance your Country is not listed, you can add your custom APN that is right custom APN number, just go down and click create custom APN and set your own APN setting which you like and click on Download. That is it, you have done it !! Wasn't that easy?

If you already have an existing APN Profile, you can edit your APN Settings by going to General > Network >Cellular Data

Sorry to say but above method  just stopped working but don't worry there is always an alternative when something goes wrong :) check out below steps
There is also an alternate way in which you can change the APN Settings.
  1. Download the following file from apple
  1. Open the iPhone Configuration Program, for Mac Version it might be in Utilities Folder.
  2. Now you can fetch your APN Settings from Google
  3. Under the Library there's a Configuration Profiles, Click on "new", go down to advanced, add the APN settings, for example in Malaysia, use Access Point name "maxis" and password, "wap", rest is not needed, at least not for Carrier Maxis
  4. Connect your iPhone, it would pop up as in iTunes, go to "configuration profiles tab", chose install, a notification should appear on your phone, choose "install". After the installation it should work directly.
  5. Sorry to say but you can install only one profile, so incase you have different pre-paid cards, you would be stuck with one stupid provider till you get a chance to go home and change the profile. For iPhone 3gs with iOs 4, the APN settings is under General > Network
Troubleshooting:
  1. Look in Devices/<iphone>/Console for error messages.
  2. In your Settings/General, you should now have a profile-tab, so you can choose to remove it if you experience any problems and redo.
Changing apn on iOS 6 is way to easy
go to Settings  > Cellular > Cellular Data Network and there you can change your Cellular Data APN

  1. Does it work for iPhone 3G with ver.4.2.1?. I changed from ATT to Consumer Cellular. With ATT, both worked fine, data and mmsc.
    Thanks,
