[Tutorial] Design a movie camera icon in Photoshop

In this Photoshop Tutorial I'm going to create a Movie Camera with Stand. You can learn some commands and techniques in this tutorial. We will be working on Layer Styles in this tutorial, hope it will polish your Graphic Design Skills. So lets start.







Step 1:


Lets start with a new file in Photoshop of size 700 x 500 px, with RGB Color mode and 72 pixels/inch resolution.

Step 2:

Pick Ellipse Tool and draw a circle of size 100 px x 100 px with #10171d color at the following location:

Step 3:

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate this circle and press Shift+Right Arrow key 9 times to move it towards 90px right side. Select both these circles layer and press Ctrl+E to merge these two layers.

Step 4:

By using Rectangular Marquee Selection tool delete the lower 10 px and fill the bottom gap between two circles as:

Step 5:

By using Pen tool make the curve in between two circles on the top as shown below:

Step 6:

Pick Ellipse Tool again and draw a circle of size 25 x 25 px in the middle of left Big Circle as:

Step 7:

Goto Layer >> Layer Styles >> Bevel and Emboss and apply the following settings:

Now click on Pattern Overlay and give the following settings:

When you will hit OK you may get this kind of effect:

Step 8:

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate it and move it towards right in the middle of right big circle as:

Step 9:

Select these two circles and the big black circles in layer panel and press Ctrl+E to merge them. Press Ctrl+T for transform and right click anywhere and select Distort, then by using the nodes make this shape as shown below:

 

Step 10:

Layer >> Layer Styles >> Bevel & Emboss and give the following settings:

After hitting OK you will get this effect:

Step 11:


Hold down Ctrl key and click on the Create New Layer icon in Layer panel, it will bring new layer below this current shape. Now still holding down the Ctrl key click on the thumbnail of the previously made joint circles layer, it will bring marquee around it, then fill it with #10171d color. Press Ctrl+D to deselect. Hold down Alt key and press Left Arrow key 11 times so you may get:

Step 12:

In Layer Panel, select all these shape and press Ctrl+E to merge them. Now pick Dodge Tool and with feathered brush, make it as:

Step 13:

Pick Rounded Rectangle Tool and with 5px Radius, draw a rectangle of size 70px width and 100 px height and fill it with #acbcc9 color, place it at the following location:

Step 14:

Press Ctrl+T for Transform and right click anywhere over it and select Perspective, pick left bottom or top node and move it towards inside a little bit so shape should become like:

Apply the following styles:

You will get this:

Step 15:

Again by using Rounded Rectangle tool draw a rectangle of size 100 x 100 px, fill it with #d2dedb color and after pressing Ctrl+T and using Distort make the shape like this:

Step 16:

Take new layer over this shape, pick Pen tool and make the shape like this:

Right click anywhere and select Make Selection, give 0 in the Feather Radius and fill it with any color:

Apply the following layer style:

You will get this effect:

Step 17:

Pick Rounded Rectangle Tool again and with 15px Radius draw a rectangle of size 60px width and 95px height at:

Apply the following layer styles:

This result should come:

Step 18:

Take new layer behind this layer and by using Pen Tool , make the following shape:

Fill it with any color and apply the Gradient which we made in Step 16 but change the angle of gradient according to the shape as:

Step 19:

By using Rounded Rectangle tool draw the following shape in black color and rasterize the layer

 Goto Filter >> Blur >> Gaussian Blur and give 4 in the feather, erase some parts to adjust it as:

Step 20:

By using Custom Shape Tool draw a ring inside the rounded rectangle having white color as:

Make some black thin circles inside it and use Burn Tool and Dodge Tool to adjust the brightness and lights as:

Step 21:


Pick Rounded Rectangle tool and draw a rectangle of size 15 px width and 70 px height, behind every layer:

 Apply the following layer styles:

 This result will come:

Step 22:


Create new layer and pick Pen Tool and make the following shape:

 Convert it into Selection and fill it with any color, apply the same style as we applied for previous shape:

 Make another shape behind the rod and fill it with #12171d color:

Step 23:

I've also made by using same technique the following shape:

Step 24:

By using Pen Tool I've made two strips for Stand, fill one strip with #b4c8bd and other with #7c8281 color:

 Make the Foot by using Pen tool as:

Step 25:

Now Duplicate this leg and Flip Horizontally and move it towards its location as:

Step 26:


Now make the third leg by using Pen Tool , Rectangle Tool and Ellipse Tool so you should have this Final Movie Camera, hope you have enjoyed this tutorial!!!
